How does FFABW finance its costs?
The FFABW is ANBI approved, in the Netherlands, and has a number of donors. We want to supplement this with subsidies and sponsorship. We also invite you to support us.
What is the Foundation For A better World?
The FFABW is an R & D (research and development) organization.
- In which area is the FFABW active?
- In the field of earth-friendly energy generation.
- Improvement to solar panels
- Cam windmills
- Algae growing unit
- High temperature bio-digester
- Water recycling
- Save energy
- etc.
Why does the FFABW do what it does?
Why does the FFABW do what it does?
Only if everyone, all over the earth, has the opportunity to reduce carbon dioxide CO2 and methane CH4 emissions, can something be done to slow down the acceleration of global warming. This means that this form of energy must be available and affordable for everyone. At the same time everyone can have clean drinking water and the rest product is suitable as a rich organic fertilizer for growing food.
What kind of protection does the FFABW use to protect its developments?
The FFABW uses free open source licenses to give everyone access to this information.
If something is published without protection, a patent can no longer be requested. The copy, model rights, however, apply, but these have been transferred to the FFABW by the developers. Every publication on this website is subject to free open source licenses. If there is a valid patent, this will always be mentioned with that document.
How fast are the developments going at the FFABW?
As with any company, the speed depends on the available budget. If there is money to purchase material and equipment, volunteers can do the necessary. When paid employees are added, this will bring a considerable acceleration in the development.
Will the FFABW make these environmentally friendly energy producing devices themselves?
Yes and no. The FFABW does the development and only builds a prototype. The prototypes are developed and tested until ready for production. This creates a durable and reliable device.
Where can I buy / rent the devices you have developed?
You can not buy or rent these devices at FFABW. Any entrepreneur who is willing to carry out maintenance of these environmentally friendly devices is authorized to make use of the free open source license. The FFABW is in favor of leasing because the maintenance contract is regulated in the license conditions. The service and guarantees are also included in these licenses. Because everyone under these licenses is allowed to make, sell or rent these devices, fair competition occurs. The licenses also offer opportunities for collaboration. The plan is also designed to stimulate the local economy.
What is the future of FFABW?
The FFABW grows to a research center with 1 director, an assistant and at least 6 employees and accommodates student internships and the necessary volunteers. There may also be paid inventors active. The salaries of the personnel will fit in with a social organization and are linked to the modal income of the country where the relevant fablab is located. There must be multiple locations around the world. The location of this R & D is chosen to cover all different climate conditions. Because all knowledge is shared, other and better solutions can be developed with this.
Why does the FFABW only develop installations to make houses autarkic?
Of course we do not only investigate techniques that can be used to make houses autarkic. We investigate the smallest installation form. It has been found that upscaling is often very easy and that larger residential blocks can also become autarkic.
Does the FFABW work with inventors?
In principle, Yes. There are 3 conditions:
- The idea can not be patented
- The inventor is willing to share his idea under the free open source license
- The development takes place at a fablab of the FFABW and makes use of the available knowledge.
The inventor submits an application to the FFABW The application contains a plan, a cost estimate and the support that is required. The cost estimate also includes a salary for him during the development period. The FFABW then tries to free the financial resources. The inventor is free after the development to set up his own production company. The inventor can then produce his own, but also all other devices covered by these licenses under free open source licenses.
How does the FFABW want to finance this R & D?
The earth-friendly energy generation devices and installations are mainly aimed at households. These must be maintained. It is estimated that at approximately 300 installations there must be 1 maintenance employee. This means that there are jobs at places where many of the products developed by FFABW are used. Because no energy needs to be purchased elsewhere, this will promote the local economy. It is of great importance for these new companies that the R & D is continued and they will see that sponsoring is necessary. When the group is big enough, € 1000.00 in sponsorship per year, should be sufficient to have and manage several fablabs worldwide and to ensure further development.
